Do you ship internationally?

Yes! I am pleased to inform you that I offer international shipping to most locations around the world. I have goods in over 20 countries and am always excited to spread my work further.

How long will it take to receive my order?

For custom orders I estimate 3-4 weeks to source the materials, design a pattern and create your product. For ready to ship orders I aim to ship within 2 working days. Delivery times vary and are dependent on the courier and your own countries customs teams.

Has my package been lost?

I will supply you with a tracking order to follow your parcel and require a signature upon delivery. If you have not received your parcel within 3 weeks of the original shipping date, I will take steps to locate and recover it. I have never lost a parcel in 4 years of crafting, generally if the delivery is taking a long time then it will be with your countries customs team and is being processed. I appreciate your patience during this time.

Will there be customs & duties?

I can not send your parcel as a gift to avoid taxes. These must be paid on your end so please consider your own countries tax laws before placing an order with me. Sometimes the courier will cover your import duty and will bill you at a later date via email.

Is my delivery date guaranteed?

Your delivery date as provided by the courier is generally accurate but never guaranteed. If time is of the essence, please contact me prior to purchase and I can fast track your delivery using alternate couriers for a fee.

What about returns or repairs?

At The Northern Lands Leather, I solely produce goods that are designed to last. If you encounter any structural issues with your product you may return it for a full refund provided that the goods are unused, undamaged and in their original packaging. Refunds will be processed following an inspection of the goods.

Please contact me within 48 hours of receiving your goods via email at thenorthernlandsleather@aol.com or through Instagram messages. Following this 48 hour timeframe, I will be unable to offer any refunds though I will be able to offer repair services for a fee.

As vegetable-tanned leather is an entirely natural product I will not replace goods that have minor aesthetic defects, though do aim to work around any major cuts, brands, marks or scratches and rarely include them in any of my work. Customers are responsible for all shipping costs, though exceptions can be made and full refunds provided upon inspection of the returned goods.

Please note, all custom and made-to-order projects are non-returnable. Due to the difficulty and time consuming nature of sourcing custom materials, I am unable to offer any refunds. Sale items are final sale and as such, non-refundable.

Can I change my bespoke piece after ordering?

Bespoke work cannot be altered due to the time consuming nature of sourcing materials to produce your personalised goods. As soon as you have placed your order, I am placing mine to ensure a timely delivery of your goods. Please discuss the design with me if you are unsure and we can create a final draft before we take any action that ties you to any design decision that you have made.

How do I care for my new leather goods?

Vegetable tanned leather develops unmatched character over time due to the exposure to various factors including oils, natural sunlight & environmental elements. This darkens & softens the surface of the leather to create a distinctive & rich finish, with a vibrant hue unlike anything else. While becoming a charming aesthetic feature, this patina also develops a certain degree of water resistance over time.

I would advise that you try to keep your leather goods clean and dry as much as possible until it carries a noticeable patina. Should you find yourself standing with a dripping wallet, don't fret, simply allow it to dry naturally and apply a good quality leather balm afterwards. I personally opt for Saphir, but Smiths or any other natural balm would be ideal. Like your own skin, leather needs to be nourished, and these balms are designed to moisturise & reinvigorate in the very same way. Keep in mind that balms are likely to darken your leather goods, which can be useful if you're planning on kick starting your patina quickly.

Avoid sharp objects that may permanently damage the leather. Marks, scratches and blemishes all add to the character of a vegetable tanned leather product. Contact me in the event of more serious damage and repair services can be arranged.
